History :
Located 11 kilometres from Bordeaux, The Château du Taillan dates from the Middle Ages. Henri Cruse acquired it in 1896, and for the three generations since it has been a family estate. The beautiful facade of the Chateau dates from the 18th century, as does the altarpiece at the end of the long terrace..
The old wine cellar, with its lower ground floor and double vault, was rebuilt in the 15th century.
All of these architectural elements are listed in the historical register of France. The grounds cover 150 hectares, with 30 hectares dedicated to the vineyard.
.
Nowadays
The winery belongs to the five daughters of Henri François CRUSE. They have run the business since 1992.
Nicolas and Armelle FALCY (the third daughter) are managers of the winery.
They combine family tradition and the latest technologies to produce a continually improving wine.
Caroline CRUSE, the second daughter, controls stock, labelling, and sealing.
It is, without a doubt, a true family business.
Visits:
The winery is open to visits every day from 9 AM to 6 PM. Appointments are recommended for group visits. Guests will be welcomed either by a member of the family or by the winemaker.
